People usually ask what a repair costs before they ask what has failed, which is fair enough. The honest answer is that most window repairs are far cheaper than the replacement quote you were braced for.
This guide covers the jobs we carry out most across Tyne and Wear, Northumberland and County Durham, and what changes the cost of each. It is guidance, not a quotation.

What moves the price
- Which component has failed, since hardware is cheaper than made to measure glass
- How many windows or doors are being dealt with on the same visit
- Whether parts are standard patterns or an obsolete system needing an equivalent
- Access, including upper floors, bays and conservatory roofs
- Glass specification where a unit is involved, such as toughened, obscure or acoustic
- Whether the visit is planned or an out of hours emergency

Hardware jobs are usually the quickest, so a handle, a pair of stays or a cylinder is a small bill. Sealed units cost more because the glass is made to measure for your opening. Multipoint door mechanisms sit in the middle, and are still a fraction of a replacement door.
Grouping work matters more than most people expect. One visit and one delivery spread across several windows brings the price per window down noticeably.

Repairs against replacement
A new window means a new frame, glass, hardware and fitting, so it costs far more than replacing the one part that has failed. Where the frame is sound, the repairs listed here buy years of further service for a small fraction of that. We do supply replacement windows when a repair genuinely is not possible, but repairs are the heart of the business and we will not push you towards new frames you do not need.
Why the final price comes after we look
Size, glass type, frame condition and how the fault has developed all change the number, and none of them can be judged reliably down the phone. In-person quotations are free with no obligation, and clear photographs can sometimes let us give an initial estimate first.
