Commercial aluminium doors
Aluminium shopfront and entrance doors take far more use than a house door. Floor springs, overhead closers, pivots and deadlocks all wear, and a door that drops or swings freely soon stops locking.
We repair and replace locks, cylinders, handles, closers and hinges on commercial aluminium doors. Where a shop or office cannot be secured, our 24 hour emergency call out covers boarding and make safe work. Communal and office entrances in uPVC are covered on our commercial door repairs page.
Domestic aluminium windows and doors
Older aluminium windows in homes often have hinges and handles that have seized with corrosion, especially near the coast. We free or replace them with compatible parts, and renew the gaskets so the window closes tight again.
Aluminium sliding and bifold doors are covered on our patio and bifold door pages, which go into rollers and tracks in more detail.
Glass in aluminium frames
We replace misted and broken sealed units and single glazing in aluminium frames, in single, double or triple glazing, using toughened or laminated glass where it is required.
Give an entrance fault its own description
A shop door that slams, one that swings freely and one that refuses to lock are not identical problems. The closer controls how the door closes, while the hinges, pivots and locking hardware have their own roles. Describe which action has changed and whether the door still closes into the frame. That helps keep the enquiry focused on the entrance rather than treating every problem as a broken lock.
We consider adjustment where a closer can still be put right. A leaking or worn closer may need replacement instead. Locks, cylinders, handles and hinges can also be repaired or replaced within the existing commercial aluminium door service. Where the premises cannot be secured, the existing 24 hour emergency call out covers boarding and make safe work. Mention that security problem when calling, rather than only describing the stiffness or noise.
Separate a durable frame from worn moving parts
The aluminium surrounding a window can remain usable while a hinge or handle has seized. This distinction matters on older domestic windows: difficulty opening them does not by itself establish that the frame needs replacing. Corrosion, particularly near the coast, is already part of the fault picture described on this page. The condition of the moving hardware is assessed, with freeing or replacement considered as appropriate.
Compatible hinges and handles are important because the repair has to work with the existing window. Gaskets are another part of that assessment when the opening no longer closes tightly. A stiff handle and a draught may occur together, but they still need to be considered on their own merits. Describe whether the window opens, how it closes and where the gap is noticeable rather than assuming every symptom comes from the glass.
Choose the right repair for the glazing or door layout
Cloudiness inside a sealed unit is a glazing issue, distinct from a seized hinge or a leaking closer. Misted and broken glass can be replaced within aluminium frames, including single glazing and sealed units. Single, double and triple glazing are already covered by the service, with toughened or laminated glass used where required. The glazing needs to suit the frame rather than being treated as a reason to replace all the aluminium around it.
Sliding and folding aluminium doors also have layout-specific running problems. A slider that drags calls for the patio door advice on rollers and tracks; a folding set has panel alignment to consider as well. Those specialist repair pages give more detail without changing the material covered here. Tell us whether the enquiry concerns a window, shop entrance, slider or bifold, then describe the movement, locking, seals or glass affected. That distinction keeps the assessment useful for both domestic and commercial customers.
