What the price depends on
- The size of the unit, since glass is priced by area with a minimum charge
- The glass specification: clear, low emissivity, toughened, laminated, obscure or acoustic
- Pattern matching such as Georgian bar, leaded or textured obscure glass
- How many units are being replaced on the same visit
- Access, including upper floors, conservatory roofs and bay windows
- The condition of the frame, beading and drainage once the old unit is out

Why this beats a new window
Replacing the complete opening pays for installation and operating parts as well as glazing and a frame. Those extra costs are unnecessary if the existing surround and hardware remain sound: changing just the sealed glass can provide years more use for much less money.
